We catch up with Derek and Alex to talk through the new record and look back at their fave 'Punk Goes Pop' covers.
Derek Sanders and Alex Garcia from Mayday Parade stopped by Rock Sound recently to chat through their much anticipated new album 'Sunnyland', their musical inspirations and their fave 'Punk Goes Pop' covers of all time.
From themes of fatherhood to the sound of anthemic indie artists, the band's new album pushes the group into new directions which they seem particularly excited about, as Derek explains:
"We haven't released any of the ballads yet, and there's actually four of those on the album...and there's also a couple, heavier, more agressive songs that fit maybe more into the 'Black Lines' kind of style that haven't been released yet. And there's also some kind of new territory that we're yet to explore. Almost like indie rock, Coldplay-ish. Something kind of along those lines I guess."
'Sunnyland' will be released this Friday June 15th.
