WACO – ‘Uprise’

WACO – ‘Uprise’ Cover

Retro rock 'n' roll fun at its finest.

Ignited by starry ’70s power-pop, owing as much to The Jam as it does the more deranged side of Big Star, WACO’s ‘Uprise’ careens with a bar-dancing verve.

‘Nancy Guntrip’ wades in with a psychedelic wooziness before detonating into a fizzier bounce-along than if you were to snort sherbert and grab a pogo stick. While ‘Rotten Tooth’ is the kind of arch-legged bopper that channels the spirit of The Ramones.

The four-piece do stray dangerously close to trendy pretentiousness at times, but with a firmer take on endearing pop melody and punk rock spirit, this could be very loved indeed.
