If anyone had predicted a Raging Speedhorn side band - created for a laugh and a joke - would have survived more than one album, never mind release four records, then clearly you'd think they were pulling your todger! However, some four years on from 'Chapter One and Viking Skull are still kicking out their beer-fuelled heavy metal. Admittedly only frontman Roddy Stone (one time RSH tour tech) remains the sole original member right now, but the 'Skull have managed to continue to rock out in toilets everywhere and anywhere that will take them. Viking Skull don't reinvent the wheel, they pay homage to the classic rock greats of old, and play with a conviction and precision. Hence you will always know the 'Skull will rock your socks off like the ultimate pub rock band they aim to be. 'Doom..' also sees the band adopt something more of a darker, more serious edge to the overall vibe this disc, replacing songs about bird, booze and bad language with songs about heartache! Still by the time you reach the drunken ramblings of album closer 'Drink', it's clear that a leopard can never entirely change its spots! Bang thy head!
