"Robust, impassioned and raging, the jewel in Vales’ crown is armed to shatter teeth, as well as hearts."
For fans of their assured ‘Clarity’ EP, it was no surprise to see Vales plucked from the UK’s progressive hardcore pack by US label 6131 Records, former home of genre demi-gods Touché Amoré. Apprenticeship served, it’s a pleasure to hear the Cornish youngsters unleashed on a full-length, and ‘Wilt & Rise’ feels honed and visceral. The band masterfully segue quickfire brutality into bleak, wintry soundscapes, and anyone expecting Chlo Edwards to bring fragility to the often male-dominated anguish, is in for a shock. Robust, impassioned and raging, the jewel in Vales’ crown is armed to shatter teeth, as well as hearts.
