Trophy Eyes - ‘Chemical Miracle’ Cover

Album no.2 is a triumph.

We need more bands like Trophy Eyes.

The Australian punks tone down the fury on album two, and manage to achieve so much without it.

The pop-hardcore of ‘Counting Sheep’ and winding chorus of ‘Breathe You In’ display a songwriting ability that most ‘poppy’ bands would kill for, but that’s only half the story.

The boys from Down Under prove they can still go hard through the Touché Amoré-isms of minute-long screamfest ‘Chemical’, while they sound a little like choppy, genre-hopping countrymen Hellions on the epic, fist-pumping ‘Miracle’.

They’ve marked themselves out as a forward-thinking band that could truly go anywhere from here.
