After the mixed reaction to 'Young New England', how does Transit's latest effort fare?

The band’s first material since the less-than-rapturous welcome afforded to more radio-ready previous effort ‘Young New England’, ‘Joyride’ finds Transit on a much more even keel. Opener ‘The Only One’ is a light-footed, sunny callback to the band’s breakthrough ‘Listen And Forgive’ and a pop-rock gem. This time around, the rest of the album follows suit. ‘Ignition & Friction’ is another indicator that although the trademark Transit sound is present and correct, the guitars, bass and gang vocals have been dialed down this time. It makes for a much less meaty record than its predecessor, and is all the better for it.
