It goes without saying that any band’s debut album is pretty important. Thankfully for The Raven Age, they don’t disappoint on ‘Darkness Will Rise’.
The fiery ‘Salem’s Fate’ is about the infamous 1692 witch trials, and comes complete with truckloads of heavy riffs and slashing snare hits.
Elsewhere, ‘Trapped Within The Shadows’ offers a similar vibe with spiralling, larger-than-life guitar solos.
The album’s a lengthy, grand affair and although at times this can cause the listener’s attention to drift, everything the band have been working towards for the past three years has led to this moment. It’s a solid start.
