Stagecoach started out as a duo intent on playing country music. Now a quintet, they’ve since harnessed their ability to deliver awesome, witty indie-rock tunes. ‘Crash My Ride’, their second EP, packs masses of pop hooks and dance-inducing melodies into its six songs. Opening with squalling guitar feedback, ‘Hieroglyphics’ builds around an insanely hard-to-shake vocal motif, with ‘Axe Behind My Back’ and ‘Good Great Better Best’ adding further flavour to an awesome pop stock, while the Pavement-esque ‘Headbangers Ball’ exemplifies their smart lyricism. There’s a deeply exciting, idiosyncratic charm about ‘Crash My Ride’.
