Saturday’s Kids - Saturday’s Kids Cover

This five-tracker is a great example of what Saturday's Kids are capable of...

Following a debut seven-inch last year and two split releases, this five-track, 23-minute EP is the fullest example yet of what Welsh punk shapeshifters Saturday’s Kids are capable of. Fullest not just in length, but in the exponential expansion of their sound: developing from their ramshackle noiserock roots, they draw on the earliest US emo bands at moments here (‘Pillow’), while also referencing the intricate building guitar of Sonic Youth and their brooding brood (‘The Old Comedians’). There’s even a piano in effect on ‘Empty Space’; maturing, if that’s what this is, renders Saturday’s Kids more powerful. Like a bear.
