"You won’t hate this band, but you may struggle to remember them..."
The hometown of Long Island isn’t the only thing Sainthood Reps shares with Brand New. While Mr Lacey wrote the handbook on sad-bastard emo, Sainthood Reps’ frontman Francesco Montesanto obviously read it cover-to-cover. Sounding remarkably like a badly-executed knock-off, sophomore full-length ‘Headswell’ is a dreary affair that never gets out of first-gear. There are deeper meanings than the bland musicianship and songwriting let on – acoustic closer ‘Breath Worth Breathing’ shows real potential – yet patience is mostly tested on the slow chug to the finish line. You won’t hate this band, but you may struggle to remember them.
