To sum up California punk quartet Plague Vendor in one word, they’re agitated.
To sum up California punk quartet Plague Vendor in one word, they’re agitated. Certainly, vocalist Brandon Blaine’s high-pitched screeches (most notably on ‘My Tongue Is So Treacherous’) don’t bode well for his sanity, while Jay Rogers’ squalling guitar sounds like he’s desperately trying to scratch some kind of indefinable musical itch. This is perhaps why ‘Free To Eat’ sounds so damn vital; it’s a clutch of sharp, abrasive punk anthems, underpinned by tight, funk-tinged rhythms that’ll have you dancing one minute and going utterly fucking crazy the next. Oh, and at only 20-odd minutes in length, it doesn’t outstay its welcome. Great stuff.
