Original Silence - The First Original Silence
The unconverted will check speaker wires for horrific malfunctions.
Anyone who endured Sonic Youth's infamously tuneless All Tomorrow's Parties appearance back in 2000 will attest Thurston Moore is fond of free jazz excursions definitely not recommended for those predisposed to migraines or actual fucking song fans. Original Silence Moore's supergroup alongside Jim O'Rourke and members of such underground structure fuckers as The Ex and Zu raise such fears, ultimately crushed under a hundredweight of steely balls. Inevitably, while the sensation of being repeatedly clunked round the temples with jerking bass guitar while everybody else gets on with whatever they individually fancy playing is strangely liberating, the unconverted will check speaker wires for horrific malfunctions regardless. The rewards though, hidden beneath two sprawling musically anarchic epics, are worth digging for.
