Obey The Brave's new album is out next week. But what did we make of it?
Canadian quintet Obey The Brave’s ‘Young Blood’ debut was short on surprises, but this time around, they make up for their lack of originality with some decent songs. Opener ‘Short Fuse’ is a terrible slice of mindless mosh fuel (meathead lyrics and all), but better things await. Namely, the likes of ‘Into The Storm’ and ‘I Am Winter’, which are infused with melodic, punk rock-tinged guitars to make for an intriguing take on modern metalcore. ‘Salvation’ isn’t going to help this band challenge for the throne just yet, but it’s proof that they can at least hold their own amongst the metalcore masses.
