"‘Stoke Extinguisher’ offers both food for thought and fuel for the pit..."
As is so often the case with NOFX’s full-length ‘efforts’, last year’s largely underwhelming ‘Self Entitled’ proved to be yet another shameless study in self-repetition. Behind the scenes, however, the contrary quartet have continued to release an irregular stream of seven-inch singles with a far greater emphasis on quality control. Comprising the bulk of their most recent vinyl-only output, ‘Stoke Extinguisher’ offers both food for thought and fuel for the pit; cheap gags jostle for space with anti-establishment rhetoric and a wry sense of self-depreciation. Like idiot savants afforded perpetual carte blanche, NOFX are bound to come good every once in a while.
