Sonically, Seattle grunge originators Mudhoney were always slightly removed from the scene they helped flourish: less focused, more lost in the raw moment of ripping out their heavy blues-soiled wares. Proof why they never trod pals Nirvana’s superstar steps is abundantly clear on this live album – recorded in Madrid in 07 – sticking to their guns two decades on while throwing in a handful of customary covers (Black Flag, Fang, The Dicks). What do we learn? Well, frontman Mark Arm doesn’t know much Spanish, and Mudhoney still rock like motherfuckers, even if ‘Touch Me I’m Sick’ comfortably remains their grandest achievement.
