We saw Moose Blood opened up Slam Dunk Festival a earlier today. Here's what we learned...
There are some PA issue as they start their set, but whereas their tech-hindered run through 'Honey' that might have made for a lacklustre start for another band, it doesn't seem to phase them.
THIS FEELS LIKE A MOVEMENT
Lots of crowdsurfing, male and female, young and very young. Lots of Moose Blood merch. Something is building here.
IT'S BEEN A BIG YEAR... They stole the show last year playing the small room up the road in the student union. Now they're mixing it with the big boys and opening the main stage. That's a hell of a thing to do in 12 months. Where do they play 12 months from now?!
...AND THEY'RE SET FOR AN EVEN BIGGER ONE When the new album is out, this band have a genuine shot at properly establishing themselves as quite a big deal.
THIS IS OVERWHELMING FOR BOTH BAND AND FANS Eddy looks overwhelmed. He always does, but stepping back to let the crowd sing he looks genuinely touched. Introducing 'Gum' his voice almost breaks with emotion.
EVERYTHING'S WARMING UP VERY, VERY NICELY If this was later in the day, it would've been a proper weekend highlight but in truth, it's too early, people are still filtering in and the 'vibe' isn't quite there yet but they give it a hell of a go.
