Mannequin Men - Fresh Rot

Mannequin Men - Fresh Rot Cover

Scrubbing down the 70s pioneer work of Television with some rough garage sandstone, Kevin Richard's vocals sound weirdly similar to Jack White's at times.

If this was five years ago Mannequin Men would probably be a) more popular and b) derided, if unfairly, for fixing their skateboard to The Strokes' bandwagon. In 2007 they have more chance of living or dying on their own merits, which they have in some abundance.

Scrubbing down the 70s pioneer work of Television with some rough garage sandstone, Kevin Richard's vocals sound weirdly similar to Jack White's at times but in the main, Mannequin Men straddle that canyon between booze-pounding punk and brow-furrowing thinker, like a great many have from Richard Hell onwards. No reinvention of the wheel, then, but 'Fresh Rot' ensures it at least maintains its RPM.
