Lower Than Atlantis At Reading Festival: “It’s About To Blow…”
Lower Than Atlantis were great on the Reading Festival main stage. Like, really great. Here's why.
MIKE DUCE IS STILL A GOOD OLD-FASHIONED SHOWMAN
At a time when loads of people in bands are happy being 'safe' and 'palatable', the LTA frontman is the dictionary definition of a rockstar.
"'OW THE FUCK IS EVERYONE?!" he laughs from the cavernous surrounds of the main stage. We're having a great time Mike, now give us a riff, will ya?
THEY'VE GOT TUNES FOR DAYS
In a better, fairer world, Lower Than Atlantis would be playing Top Of The Pops and Later... With Jools Holland by now. They might nominally be a punk band, but there's a depth and sophistication to the way they piece together jams like 'Emily', which is pure pop sass.
That's no bad thing, and under the blazing sun today's set feels like a warm up for a new album cycle which could be very special. It's about to blow.

EDDY THROWER IS THE MAN
Let's talk about LTA's sticksman for a bit. In a band full of tremendously talented musicians (and they really, really are), Eddy is a phenomenon.
Rhythm, flair, showmanship and unshakeable accuracy are the order of the day as the drummer delivers one of the finest performances this weekend will surely see. The UK's answer to Luke Holland? Believe.
