There’s been a fair swell of keen anticipation ahead of Jumping Ships’ debut EP. Originally planned as an album that would have been released earlier this year, the six-tracker has been lovingly streamlined through a protracted period of recording on a shoestring budget. The Brighton quartet’s dedication has undoubtedly reaped handsome rewards in the likes of ‘The Whole Truth’ and ‘Brickhouse’, which meld impressive indiepop hooks to jagged guitars and a causer side built on a strong punk backbone, while post-rock influences also rise to the fore throughout the EP. Eclectic, affecting and Jumping Ships out as a genuinely exciting prospect.
