Made Out Of Babies frontwoman Julie Christmas sings in a sweet-as-pie, little-girl whisper one minute, and then like a caterwauling banshee the next. ‘The Bad Wife’? Only a sadist would consider marrying her on this evidence. The backdrop is industrial, bleak rock – a mix of Nine Inch Nails and the music you hear in the Haunted House at Alton Towers. Genuinely creepy and convincing at times (‘Bow’, ‘Six Pairs Of Feet And One Pair Of Legs’), the album as a whole is a meandering, waffly affair that has few killer hooks or riffs. Christmas sounds best angry, but she doesn’t get angry enough.
