Evan Weiss' second ‘real’ album is confident, reassured and focused.
While principal Into It. Over It. member Evan Weiss currently alternates between a solo and a full-band set-up on tour, his second ‘real’ album is confident, reassured and focused. Songs like ‘Obsessive Compulsive Distraction’ have the same easygoing, laconic feel as his acoustic live sets – and as with last year’s ‘Proper’, his emo-rock songwriting is now layered with electric guitar lines, harmonies and melodic gang vocals. That change doesn’t detract the personal feel of the record – if anything, those songs firmly ground the album, allowing for new experimentation with longer arrangements and meandering vocal lines. Overall, it’s an impressive progression on all counts.
