A one-woman forest fire sweeping through the secure homes of the terminally stupid.

A one-woman forest fire sweeping through the secure homes of the terminally stupid, New Yorican Imani Coppola doesn't mince her words and, eight albums in, doesn't give a shit where her music falls. Contrived perhaps, but it works - the scrappy punk of 'Woke Up White' (a blazing, on-target, race-identity broadside) sitting comfortably with the bittersweet electro-pop of 'Let It Kill You' and the raunchy, Timbaland lilt of 'Keys 2 Your Ass'. As with the amazing MIA, it's Imani's unapologetic realism and straight talking that makes her instantly likeable, although there's a satirical bent here (to wit: 'John Lennon Is A Trademark Of Yoko Ono') that affords her more accessibility.
