Hawthorne Heights - Hate Cover

For fans of... err... Hawthorne Heights.

While Hawthorne Heights have to be admired for their resilience, there’s little else to recommend this, their latest release. Long-time fans excluded, few will be able to get excited about yet more middling fare from the Ohio outfit, and though this is, in general, more urgent and aggressive than their previous offerings, it still lacks depth and any real sense of identity. Neither remarkable nor awful, ‘Hate’ speaks of a band too dependent on histrionics to be altogether convincing, and seemingly condemned to repeat the same old tricks long after they’ve worn thin. File under ‘fans only.’
