Greywind - ‘Afterthoughts’ Cover

A bold effort.

Darkly poetic and wracked with emotion, Greywind’s debut album is an intriguing slow-burner.

Opening with breakthrough single ‘Afterthoughts’ was a bold move from this Irish duo – and it still sounds enormous – yet the nine cuts of cinematic, brooding alt.rock that follow suggest that it was no fluke.

Vocalist Steph O’Sullivan imbues songs like ‘Car Spin’ and the aptly-named ‘Desolate’ with a huge amount of feeling, and while a touch more diversity wouldn’t have gone amiss, the band clearly know their way around a blockbuster chorus.

If you can invest in their vision, they could sweep you away.
