What is the one thing that links together every great rock band in history regardless of their genre, style or era? The answer, of course, is character. The problem with bands like Fort Hope is, while totally adequate in almost every regard, they could be literally any group of handsome young men with guitars.
This EP ticks many of the boxes you would expect – a catchy riff here, a highly-polished chorus there – but there’s precious little which pushes beyond the most obvious tropes. If this clearly eager trio are going to become a serious proposition then a little more substance and charisma is surely the key.
