Arizona’s Ded aren’t waiting for a nu metal revival – with this debut album, they’ve created their own.
All eye-bulging rage, minimal but massive riffs and dead-on Jacoby Shaddix-meets-Corey Taylor vocals, cuts like ‘Anti-Everything’ and ‘I Exist’ revive the nihilistic force of the early 2000s.
There’s an extra pop sheen courtesy of producer John Feldmann (hey again!) and plenty of slick choruses – ‘Dead To Me’ and ‘Disassociate’ are stupidly catchy as well as, y’know, vicious – but they also pull off the weird overtones and rapped sections better than most.
This could mark the dawn of another nu era. Maybe.
