Dead Confederate - Wrecking Ball Cover

The plaintive sentiment and sharp songwriting perfectly blend highs and lows in a bittersweet debut...

There’s no shortage of buzzwords to ascribe to Georgia psyche-rock five-piece Dead Confederate – ‘moody’ being just one. The opening quick-fire fanfare of ‘Heavy Petting’ rages in controlled, grunge-driven guitars, fronted by the soulful howls of Hardy Morris who drags downbeat instrumentation into pure emotion. The alloy of the two sounds works and it’s hard not to lose yourself in maelstroms of minor chords when they snap at the musical backbone of Nirvana. Elapsing in intensity, the plaintive sentiment of ‘It Was A Rose’ and sharp songwriting of ‘The Rat’ perfectly blend highs and lows in a bittersweet debut. Don’t miss out!
