Creeper - Creeper Cover

These punk newcomers set the bar high with debut EP.

Offering a dark, slightly gothic twist on peppy punk rock, Southampton’s Creeper come flying out the gates with the physical release of this highly accomplished debut EP. Alkaline Trio are a clear influence here, but in attitude rather than imitation. So well-constructed are ‘We Had A Pact’, ‘Gloom’ and ‘VCR’ that they quickly feel familiar enough to have been alt-rock staples for years. And they’re not even the most striking parts. Acoustic closer ‘Novena’ shows they have a change of pace in their locker without foregoing the maudlin theatrics, adding another string to their bow and showing this lot could become real contenders in 2015.
