Captain, We’re Sinking - ‘The King Of No Man’ Cover

Our thoughts on the third effort from the East Coast punks.

Parking themselves somewhere between the blue-collar realism of Bruce Springsteen and the raw emotion of Conor Oberst’s Desaparecidos, Captain, We’re Sinking are among the more exciting purveyors of gruff, East Coast punk.

The Scranton quartet’s third album may sand down their rougher edges a little, but ‘The King Of No Man’ is still teeming with buzzsaw melodies and gritted-teeth vocals.

The contrast is occasionally stark, for instance when moving straight from the lost Nirvana B-side feel of ‘Don’t Show Bill’ into the meandering ‘Canonless’, but this is still a strong collection.
