CALIBAN - ‘GRAVITY’

CALIBAN - ‘GRAVITY’ Cover

Heavy. Very heavy.

Germany’s Caliban have returned and followed up ’14’s ‘Ghost Empire’ with a new batch of melodic-yet-ballsy metalcore jams. Pulling together the best parts of modern day heaviness and coating them in a lick of early 2000s influence, the airtight sensory assault of ‘Left For Dead’ and battery of ‘The Ocean’s Heart’ make for some uncomplicated and entertaining listening. At times it feels too familiar, there is very little on ‘Gravity’ that is going to shock or redefine the genre, but Caliban know where their strengths lie and continue to use them to devastating effect.
