Bowling For Soup - Lunch. Drunk. Love Cover

Fun but familiarity from the goofy uncles of pop-punk...

Bowling For Soup seemingly suffer from neophobia, also known as the fear of new things. Their twelfth record is another familiar slice of Texan apple pie – sweet, sugary and homemade by-the-book pop-punk. With cliché lyrics about getting shitfaced, opener ‘Critically Disdained’ typifies the goofy uncles of pop-punk, while the rhyming in ‘Normal Chicks’ is toe-curling. Nevertheless, the self-recorded production quality from these veterans is top-notch, with tracks like ‘Real’ proving infectiously fun. Unfortunately the last decade has seen BFS fail to improve on ’02’s ‘Drunk Enough To Dance’, but if you want to party, laugh, cry and love with some older dudes, this one’s for you.
