Boston Manor - ‘Be Nothing’ Cover

Debut of the year?

Hot on the heels of a clutch of increasingly excellent EPs, this debut album from Blackpool’s Boston Manor comes with a considerable weight of expectation upon its shoulders.

Any fears that the five-piece might buckle under said expectations are soon eradicated moments into the guttural, propulsive opener of ‘Burn You Up’. In contrast, ‘Broken Glass’ arrives a few songs later, dripping in anguish, atmosphere and explodes like a tinderbox of emotion.

Vocalist Henry Cox’s delivery is the abiding star, leaving listeners in little doubt that he and the band are putting everything they’ve got into each and every track.

There’s a special band lurking in the shadows in Boston Manor and ‘Be Nothing’ deserves to become the moment where they truly emerge and shine in the spotlight.
