As Lions - ‘Selfish Age’
We delve into their debut album.
If your thirst for old fashioned metal needs quenching, As Lions’ long-awaited debut album should just about hit the spot.
Taking things as far back to basics as you can possibly get while delivering huge melodic hooks and arena-conquering choruses in abundance, the band create a thoroughly meaty, pleasingly familiar noise.
Though the five-piece are guilty of being a touch overindulgent at times, the earworms of ‘Pieces’, mountainous ‘The Fall’ and groove-laden ‘Deathless’ ensure that ‘Selfish Age’ can be chalked up as a victory overall.
