Alcoa - Thank You Cover

Was Derek Archambault's solo acoustic EP worth the investment?

Defeater fans will already know Derek Archambault – frontman of said band and the voice behind one-man acoustic project Alcoa – made this crowdfunded EP to raise cash for a hip replacement. Fans were more than willing to help out, and the five-tracker they got in return shows exactly why getting him back on the road was a worthy cause. Among the gems here are an inventive semi-acoustic cover of Blacklisted’s ‘Stations’, a truly gorgeous, mournful rendition of Elder Brother’s ‘Who’s Gonna Carry You Home?’ and a feisty take on I Am The Avalanche track ‘Young Kerouacs’. Thank you, Derek.
