The Poughkeepsie three-piece are exploding right now, but does their new EP live up to the hype?
Every now and then, a band comes out of nowhere and grabs your attention on the first listen. Right now, that band is Poughkeepsie three-piece Against The Current. Their second EP in just over six months sees them honing their pop-rock songwriting skills, and Chrissy Costanza’s vocals on the title track and ‘Talk’ confirm that she’s one of the most impressive young vocalists out there. These are sweet songs laced with teenage venom, and while the We Are The In Crowd connection will do them no harm (drummer Will shares more than just a surname with WATIC’s Mike Ferri), Against The Current have already proved they’re no second-rate imitation.
We reckon ATC are a band you need in your life right now. That's why we included them as one of the 59 bands you need in your life right now in the RS198 new noise feature (plus this review features in the mag, too). Convenient. You can order the new issue straight to your front door, download it, or pick it up from UK stores today.
