A Place To Bury Strangers - ‘Exploding Head’ Cover

Quite simply, a triumph of an album...

Translating the searing intensity of a live show into a studio recording is, for many bands, an insurmountable challenge but Brooklyn’s APTBS make it appear effortless. So while ‘Exploding Head’ isn’t quite as ear-bleeding as their previous self-titled effort, it still possesses plenty of absolutely astounding guitar abuse, from the vast swells of low-end distortion that close ‘I Lived My Life…’ to the metallic, no-wave chords of ‘In Your Heart.’ Special mention should perhaps also be reserved for the litany of textural subtleties underlying ‘Deadbeat’s’ ostensibly simple surf riff highlights come thick and fast on what is, quite simply, a triumph of an album.
