This Is Why Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan Doesn’t Want To Play With Foo Fighters At Festivals

"I'm worried about the kid that won't come to the show, because we're playing with the Foo Fighters."

Slipknot's Shawn 'Clown' Crahan recently took part in a panel titled 'Underground To Mainstream: What Are Metal And Hip-Hop Doing Right (And Where Does It Go From Here?)' at 'Pollstar Live!' last week.

When a comment was made about Slipknot playing on the same festival bills as Foo Fighters, Crahan had this to say.

"The answer is no, because my kids don't want me to do that."

If we play alongside the Foo Fighters, we are going to get new fans, I agree with that. I love that. But I'm worried about the kid that won't come to the show, because we're playing with the Foo Fighters.

He wants to know why we're not playing with Nine Inch Nails. Those kids tell all of us what they want. So, don't try to figure out ways of how to combine things for the new fan.

I don't need the new fan, I need the fan that has anxiety, parents are getting divorced, social problems, gender problems — I need them to come to the ultimate show. And they're going to get that at Knotfest."

Well, there you go.

This year's Knotfest takes place in San Bernardino, CA on November 04 & 05.

Late last year Shawn also hinted that the next Slipknot album could be his last.

This is what he said to Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta on his podcast:

"We've been writing and this music is coming out in a new… I feel weird things are coming but it's always kind of like that for the guys like us, we get involved in our records and the sky all of a sudden changes. It’s like ‘whoa, things are weird!’"

"And man, we got some stuff bro. I feel like this could be it for me. We're all getting older.  And like in the old days I used to… I’ve never liked telling anyone like, 'Hey this is it!' Because I don't have to, fuck everyone."
