Scotland-come-Brighton rockers The Xcerts have been awfully quiet for the last year or so. Turns out, they've been busy working on album number three, and we'll be able to hear a track from it very soon...
Yep, after pretty much no new material since 2010's 'Scatterbrain', The Xcerts will release their new single 'Shaking In The Water' on July 21, and follow it up with their third album at SOME point later this year. The single's been produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild) and long-term band friend Paul Steel, who last surfaced on Murray Maclead's side-project Cold Crows Dead.
Wanna hear a slice of 'Shaking In The Water'? There's a clip of it in the teaser vid below...
Says frontman Murray Macleod: "We've actually been playing this song live for quite a while now so we're excited to finally release it. Originally this song had a real 60's vibe to it and it was really jangly. Over time it got progressively heavier, i then entered a world of fuzz and the song was truly born. Musically It's very simple and very fun. Lyrically the song is about helplessness and how i was solely to blame for finding myself in a regretful postition with another person. In previous songs / records i have always found a scapegoat when singing about something i'm to blame for but i've grown up a bit and this time round i'm throwing my hands in the air and admitting my faults."
