"Even and especially in the toughest times, the threat of suicide should never be taken lightly."
According to a report over the weekend by TMZ, The Used (or rather, the members of) have taken out a restraining order against their former guitarist Justin Shekoski. Shekoski was removed from the band a few months ago, with the band citing "creative differences" for the parting of ways.
After a series of threatening text messages from Shekoski, the band filed for a restraining order which demands that he must stay 100 yards from all members of the band and any place that they work- so any venue that The Used is playing.
In some of the texts exposed by TMZ, Shekoski allegedly said retaliation "is the only way to get justice." In another he says, "those f*cks ruined my life and stole all of my creative work". The texts also contained threats of self-harm.
In light of the story being broken by TMZ over the weekend, The Used have issued a statement on instagram addressing the situation and offering some transparency to their fans. You can read the statement in full below:
"Due to personal and artistic differences, Justin is no longer the guitar player for The Used. As a band we strive for an honest transparent connection with our fans. Despite the sensationalism and immoral reporting of media publications that we have had nothing to do with, we as a band had to take the proper legal precautions. The safety of our fans, crew and fellow band members is our biggest priority. Even and especially in the toughest times, the threat of suicide should never be taken lightly. We ask that you respect the privacy of everyone involved during this process.
