The Knebworth extravaganza kicks off, with performances from Alice Cooper, 65daysofstatic, Turisas, Failsafe and more later today...
What more do you want from the first proper day of a festival? The sun shining? Check. A raging hangover? Check (quietly). The prospect of having your mind blown later? Big check on that one.
The UK leg of Sonisphere is gearing up for a big start today, and even though there are no Main Stage bands there's enough good stuff bubbling around the site to keep even the most cynical metalhead happy.
With the evening's festivities headlined by Alice Cooper, backed up the Goth Overlord himself Gary Numan, there's enough big tuneage for everyone. Over on the smaller stages, though, are some more recognisable delights: And So I Watch You From Afar, 65daysofstatic, Failsafe, Lower Than Atlantis, Karma To Burn and Throats are among the bands out to win some new friends. And, given there's no massive headliner we reckon you could be seeing some swelling crowds in the further-flung reaches of the site.
Essentially, music is the real winner.
