An absolute joy.
Softcult have released a new single.
it's titled 'Spit It Out' and is as downtrodden as it is delicate.
Combining shoegaze and grunge-based sadness with a shimmering pop sensibility, the duo have produced an absolutely gorgeous song that is brimming with as many hooks as heartbroken passages of noise.
It's also a song with a vicious and vital message at its core.
Here's what the band had to say about it:
“We wrote ‘Spit It Out’ about rejecting harmful ideologies that we’ve come to accept as normal, even though they perpetuate our own oppression.
Most people understand that misogyny, sexism, racism, etc are wrong, but don’t often notice when it occurs in our everyday lives, in the media, or how we’ve been conditioned to perceive the world.
It all starts with questioning them in the first place, and then deciding that we aren’t going to continue to contribute to them. “
Enough reading, get listening:
It follows on from their EP 'Year Of The Rat' which was released earlier this year via Easy Life Records.
