Frontman of the Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten has inexplicably called out Green Day with a claim that the seminal pop-punk band are "embarrassing" in keeping the spirit of punk alive.
Sharing his thoughts on the modern state of punk culture with the New York Times, he's quoted saying “It is embarrassing, really. How many bands are out there like Green Day now? I look at them, and I just have to laugh. They’re coat hangers, you know. A turgid version of something that doesn’t actually belong to them.”
