The annual celebration of the best of Broadway theatre will take place June 10th.

Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie just added to his list of accolades as he was nominated for a 2018 Tony award, recognising the best in Broadway theatre.

Brendon is nominated in the category for Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written For The Theatre for his work on 'Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical' alongside the show's other contributing composers including Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, John Legend and The Flaming Lips. Urie composed the song 'Just A Simple Sponge' for the musical which is currently running on Broadway after opening to near unanimous critical praise.

The show receieved a total of 12 nominations including in the Best Musical and Best Book Of A Musical categories, while leading man Ethan Slater is up for the Best Actor In A Musical award. You can read the full list of nominations here.

Panic!'s manager Scott Nagelberg was among the first to congratulate Brendon on Instagram earlier today (May 1st):

The Tony Awards will take place on June 10th, hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. The show will also be broadcast live on CBS.

Brendon is, of course, no stranger to Broadway having starred in the musical 'Kinky Boots' for a successful limited run last summer.
