They may have only released their new album at the beginning of this year, but ONE OK ROCK are already thinking about (and talking about) their follow-up to 'Eye Of The Storm'.
ONE OK ROCK frontman Taka Moriuchi admits that their latest album was far more pop-leaning than the band is otherwise known for, sharing with Last FM that he was inspired by his love of American pop songs, “I really like American pop songs... We listened to a lot of pop for the new album."
During the writing of 'Eye Of The Storm', ONE OK ROCK spent five months in America with a handful of producers, and those writing sessions culminated in up to 50 songs being written - with only 13 of the tracks making it on to the finished album.
“We would make one song in just one day, completely finished," Taka shared. “In five months, we already had a lot of different types of songs, like forty to fifty songs. We had a lot to choose from and this experience was a first for me, because normally we take more time to choose songs, but everything was done super quick."
But the follow-up to 'Eye Of The Storm' might just be heading back to their rock roots, with Taka sharing “I'm trying to listen to more rock and roll, older stuff actually like Oasis and Metallica. I think the next album is going to be more rock and roll, so I need to wear something that has more rock and roll spirit, you know what I mean?"
It's very early days yet, but it's exciting, isn't it?
