The Wonder Years' Dan Campbell has unveiled the full album stream from his Aaron West side-project. Listen to 'We Don't Have Each Other' now on YouTube, then pick it up next week through Hopeless!
'We Don't Have Each Other', is set for release through Hopeless on July 07 / 08 through Hopeless (pre-orders for that are available now from iTunes or MerchNow).
A concept album of sorts produced by The Early November's Ace Enders, Campbell explains that the Aaron West project is his chance to write in the third person and create characters with his music, as opposed to just singing about his own life and experiences, as he does with The Wonder Years:
“I had been thinking a lot over the past year about records like “All Hail West Texas” and “Reunion Tour” where The Mountain Goats and The Weakerthans were able to make me fall in love with the people in their songs,” explains Campbell. “They created such real, whole characters that I found myself invested in their lives and their stories. I then realized that almost every book, every movie, every show that I really love is fiction and that it doesn’t at all effect how deeply I care for the characters.”
The Fuse stream also comes with an interview, where Campbell elaborates on who exactly is Aaron West...
"Aaron West is a fictional character that I created. But Aaron West is a 31-year-old man, originally from Long Island, that was living in Brooklyn with his wife. He's having a really bad year... I think that's the best way to put it. We Don't Have Each Other centers on his existence."
