Neck Deep's Ben Barlow takes us on a sometimes hilarious, sometimes grisly journey into his musical history this month. He offers gems like this...
THE SONG I INJURED MYSELF TO TEK-ONE - ‘BROKEN STRING’ “I lost a toenail moshing once, which was pretty grim. I looked down and started squelching my foot around and was like, ‘There’s quite a bit of blood in there.’ I took my sock off and my whole foot was covered in blood with my toenail hanging off. It was really gross. I puked as well. I moshed so hard I threw up my Sunday dinner!”
THE SONG I LEARNED TO MOSH TO SLIPKNOT - ‘EYELESS’ “Moshing is pretty nerve-wracking the first few times! That’s part of the rush. Like, ‘Oh, shit. It looks gnarly.’ You’re kind of with your mates like, ‘Yeah, go on. Shall we try it?’ You’re 12 years old thinking, ‘Fuck, I’m going to get battered here’ then you go in and it’s actually a good laugh. A lot of the time it’s nowhere near as bad as you think it’s going to be, but it’s a good way to blow off some steam.”
