LISTEN: Frank Turner’s Deeply Personal New Track ‘Miranda’
One man and his changing relationship with his father.
Frank Turner has shared a new track from his upcoming album 'FTHC', and it's a really personal and special one.
It's called 'Miranda' and tells the story of him reconnecting with his father, who has recently transitioned from male to female. It's a stark and honest reflection of how their relationship was whilst Frank was growing up and how it is now, slowly but surely getting better.
As a song, it's one full of hope, and that is all you can ask for when building bridges again.
Frank had this to say about it:
“Miranda's just actually quite a nice person, but my dad was a shitty person, a bitter and angry and resentful person who had a gigantic temper problem. If you just continue with resentment endlessly for somebody, it's not having any kind of meaningful effect. The only person it's affecting is you and it's a waste of energy. Miranda’s not a completely new person, but she’s certainly a new version of a person – and a much better version.”
Here it is:
'FTHC' will be released on February 11 via Xtra Mile Recordings / Polydor. We chatted to him all about it earlier this year, which you can catch up with HERE
