Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda has thanked fans for "respecting our privacy during this extremely difficult time," after the passing of frontman Chester Bennington.

"Brad, Joe, Rob, Dave, and I love you all very much," he tweeted.

Chester passed away last week, aged 41. His bandmates paid tribute to him in an emotional statement, saying, "You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve," while messages and photos are pouring in from across the globe at a tribute site set up in his memory.
