Jimmy Eat World Release Beautiful New Song ‘Place Your Debts’

Jimmy Eat World have shared a new track, and it is up there with the best of their slow-burners.

Jimmy Eat World are back with a new track, just ahead of their appearance at When We Were Young this coming weekend.

And it’s one of their wonderful ballads.

It’s called ‘Place Your Debts’ and is a spiralling mix of soft synths, ambient twirls and acoustic builds, with Jim Adkins’ unmistakable poetry bringing it all together.

It’s slow-burning, sombre and sensational, and everything that you could ever want from a Jimmy Eat World track.

And for them to still be able to pluck your heartstrings in such a way after all these years is as big a triumph as you can get.

Jim had this to say about it:

“The ‘debt’ you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself. You buy an ending every time you start something, and the cost is determined by how closely you pay attention to your personal condition.”

And he had this to say about the video, showing him singing to the camera in varied and gorgeous locations.

“It’s a series of many, many edits of me singing to the camera. While every shot is different in terms of background, I’m framed with as close to the same composition in every one.

“It is a concept you can’t really scout for. You have to just be aware and be looking for interesting locations all the time.”

Here we go then:

It follows on from ‘Something Loud’, which sounds a lot like this:
