“I’ve always felt that I’ve had to portray myself a certain way online. Kind of be this comic relief, and someone who’s always in a positive mental state. It’s just not the truth. And it’s not real." - Jack Barakat.

Yesterday All Time Low guitarist Jack Barakat began teasing the launch of his side project WhoHurtYou, and is set to drop their debut single this coming Friday.

Now, Jack has also shared a little video on his mental health, and the circumstances which lead up to him starting WhoHurtYou.

“I’ve always felt that I’ve had to portray myself a certain way online,” Jack shared in his video. “Kind of be this comic relief, and someone who’s always in a positive mental state. It’s just not the truth. And it’s not real. And everyone has their ups and downs, and I’ve never really put mine out there.

“Last year was a really tough year for me. I was going through my first big breakup and handled it all the wrong ways, and I was doing the wrong things. In those moments, I had close friends of mine urge me to see a therapist and turn my life around.”

He goes on to share that it was those circumstances that lead to Jack writing music with singer-songwriter Kevin Fisher, who is his collaborative partner on WhoHurtYou.

Check out Jack's full video below.

The debut singly 'Why?' from WhoHurtYou is set for release this coming Friday.
